Losing weight increases memory ability

The loss of body weight is not only good for the health of fat people, but also helps them improve their memory.

Some previous studies have demonstrated that the ability of fat people to memorize segments decreases when their body mass increases. Segment memory helps people remember events throughout life. However, the memory of many fat and older women significantly improves after they lose weight by adjusting their diet.

To explore the relationship between weight loss and memory, scientists at Umea University in Sweden recruited 20 women with above average body weight. Their average age is 61, Telegraph reported.

Initially the research team monitored the subject's brain activity when they performed a facial memory test. They then asked 9 people to eat a diet for people who want to lose weight.

After 6 months, the body weight of 9 dieters decreased, while the weight of 11 others remained or increased. The team again asked 20 women to take a memory test. They found that the ability of the nine dieters to remember clearly increased compared to the previous test, while the ability to memorize the other 11 was not better.

"Our findings suggest that memory loss due to obesity is a situation in which we can reverse. This is one of the new motivations for fat people to find ways to lose weight," said Dr. Andreas Pettersson, research leader, said.
