Testosterone - male sex hormone - exists in both male and female bodies, but its content in the male body is higher. Until now, scientists have always agreed that people with high levels of testosterone prefer to compete, rarely fear, able to overpower others, or perform risky behaviors such as gambling or drinking.

Paola Sapienza, a scientist at Northwestern University (USA), said that in general, the proportion of women who risked money with money was much lower than that of men.

' In one of our surveys, 57% of male students studying for a master's degree in business administration (MBA) chose jobs with high levels of financial risk such as investment or foreign currency trading, but only 36% of female students have similar options. We want to find out if the difference is related to testosterone , 'she told AP.

Sapienza and Luigi Zingales - an expert at the University of Chicago (USA) - invited more than 500 MBA students to participate in the experiment. Two researchers and colleagues checked testosterone levels of volunteers and asked them to choose one of two things: a cash reward and dozens of lottery tickets with a much higher prize value. . MBA students must choose several times. Every time after that, the value of the cash and the lottery reward increased.

The results showed that the rate of male students choosing lottery was much higher than female. However, when considering the selection of female students, the research team found unexpected results. The rate of girls with high testosterone levels was 7 times higher than other girls.

In addition, the team found that married people (both men and women) had lower testosterone levels than single people.

' It is easy to see that married people are more cautious than single people when faced with risky decisions ,' Zingales said.
