Many bacteria appear to be 'super-resistant' in Vietnam

Currently, there are several types of 'viruses' that are resistant to all antibiotics, the most common of which are intestinal gram-negative bacteria.

Vietnam appears many antibiotic resistant bacteria

According to scientists, the birth of antibiotics is a major achievement of medicine, thanks to antibiotics, every year in the world, there are tens of millions of people suffering from infections that have been cured and saved. . Antibiotics are considered a great weapon in the war of humans to fight bacteria and infections caused by them.

However, there is an alarming fact that antibiotic resistance in Vietnam is increasing rapidly , with the number of resistant bacteria, the level of resistance is increasing.

Associate Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vu Trung, deputy director of the Central Hospital of Tropical Diseases said that, in many cases, despite the use of antibiotic treatment, the infection status has not improved, the bacteria still exist and develop. development.

There are many types of super-resistant bacteria.

There are even cases of bacteria that are resistant but that is fake resistance.'For example, when pathogenic bacteria are in abscesses, pus, etc., there are necrotic organizations, inflammation-covered organizations that make antibiotics unable to penetrate the damaged site or just a quantity. Small antibiotics may come to that position, ' said Trung.

Accordingly, bacteria with resistance genes will be less or not affected by antibiotics during treatment. In particular, the treatment of some bacteria that play an important role in causing infections in hospitals and communities such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, septicemia . will face many difficulties. If bacteria are resistant to many existing antibiotics, patients may die from treatment failure.

However, bacteria often have structural or physiological changes to resist antibiotics. Therefore, it is important that we adhere to the principle of antibiotic use , avoiding very much the abuse of antibiotics that limit the resistance of bacteria.

Talking about the decision for patients to be treated with antibiotics, Trung said that, according to the principle, if antibiotic treatment must be based on the results of identification of bacteria and antibiotic, it cannot be based on good experience. clinical examination.

'Even if a doctor is experienced or based on clinical examination, it is impossible to give an accurate judgment that the bacteria is what bacteria and the correct antibiotic designation to do. treatment is very difficult, ' said Trung Trung.

Trung said that in the case of infections, the treatment is to use antibiotics and the principle of using antibiotics is to identify the bacteria that cause disease and make antibiotics, which means that the child must be identified. What bacteria is sensitive to antibiotics and what antibiotic resistance is there then the doctor will choose the appropriate antibiotic for treatment.

'If a patient is cured, it means the doctor chooses the wrong antibiotics. Choosing the wrong antibiotic will lead to prolonged treatment. If normal treatment is 7 - 10 days out, but because of incorrect determination, the amount of treatment time must be doubled, leading to an increase in the amount of treatment, even if the treatment is not timely can be dangerous' , Trung Trung warned.
