Many strange plasma flow around the Earth

Many giant plasma currents surround the Earth. They appear at high levels of the atmosphere, about 600 km from the ground. These plasma flows are very large and filled with charged particles.

Detect strange plasma flow around Earth

This unique discovery is by the young astronomer Cleo Loi , a female student at the University of Sydney, Australia. It provides evidence of hypothesis that plasma currents are far away from the Earth's surface.

With modern technologies, scientists can monitor the activity of these plasma flows . They can create video clips, even 3D maps that simulate their activities. These streams of material are very large in size, moving along the Earth's magnetic lines.

The space around the Earth is affected by its own magnetic field , scientists call it magnetism. However, this area also has a lot of plasma because the air is ionized under the influence of the sun. Exactly the plasma exists in the ionosphere, the innermost layer of the magnetosphere.

To detect plasma flow, Cleo Loi used the Widefield Array Murchison radio telescope (MWA) installed in the desert in western Australia.

Each plasma flow is 10 to 50 km wide, can last from several hundred to thousands of kilometers. They have the ability to limit the impact of cosmic rays on Earth, Loi said.

In addition, plasma can also affect artificial devices in the air. Understanding their activity will help scientists limit their influence on radio satellites and radio astronomers.
