So far, two wards of Binh Chieu and Tam Binh have had about 1,000 people vaccinated against this disease.

In the afternoon of the same day, Dr. Le Thi Thu Thao - head of the intensive care unit for adults in the Hospital (Hospital) of HCMC Tropical Diseases - said that in Vietnam cases of meningitis caused by meningococcal brain mainly due to micro type B bacteria.

Current vaccination of type A and C meningococcal cells is currently only available to prevent these two types of bacteria, and B and D do not yet have a vaccine . So the best preventive measure is to keep hygiene in personal life and improve the living environment.

According to Dr. Thu Thao, meningitis caused by meningococcal brain appeared scattered throughout the year, not as clearly as other seasons. But the disease-causing factor is cramped, unsanitary, or when the weather changes from dry to rainy, dry to rainy. Every year in the Hospital of Tropical Diseases only receive treatment scattered a few shifts, in different localities, time away from each other, not concentrated many cases in a short time like this time.

The disease has two severe and mild illnesses , some people are severely ill, and some people are mild because of each person's immunity. Mild form is when the patient (patient) has simple meningitis, or just meningitis and sepsis. When recovering, rarely leave a neurological sequelae. Particularly severe, when the patient has only sepsis, it is very difficult to cure in the case of acute sepsis.

From 27-2 to 9-3, BV Tropical Diseases received treatment for four consecutive patients with meningitis caused by meningococcal brain in Thu Duc District. In which two people hospitalized on 9-3 died a few hours later. And VAT patient (24 years old) hospitalized on February 28 and NVH (1987) hospitalized on March 4 recovered well, though when hospitalized, she was in high fever, vasculature, skin hemorrhage.

Particularly, NVH patient stays in the same room with 14 others, BV has mobilized these people to test, in which a person has a positive result for meningococcal (carrying germs) but has no symptoms and has been treated treatment. According to Dr. Thu Thao, many people who carry the disease do not get sick, but can still infect others.
