Mexican scientist won Prince Asturias

Arturo Álvarez Buylla has become the first Mexican to be awarded the Spanish Asturias Prince Award in 2011 for science and technology.

The 53-year-old scientist now lives and works in the United States.

Speaking to the press on May 26, scientist Buylla thanked for the support of the team of professors, doctors, researchers at the University of California - San Francisco (USA), where he conducted research. specialized in perennial mammalian nervous system and common cancer in these animals.

Buylla graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) specialized in biochemistry in 1986. After two years, he worked as a doctoral dissertation at Rockefeller University (USA) and worked there. until 2000 before moving to research and teaching at the University of California - San Francisco. Previously, he had received the US scientific research award and many professional associations in Latin America and Europe.
