Microsoft blocked security holes for XP and Vista -
Next Tuesday (July 10) Microsoft will release a monthly update to fix a series of security holes in its application software.
Information posted on Microsoft's official website said the July security update was divided into six major patches. The goal of this month's security update is Microsoft Excel, Windows XP, Vista and Windows Server 2003.
In the past, hackers have been taking advantage of serious security holes in Microsoft Office applications to attack users. Typical attacks are often hackers will send victims an email containing malicious Office files. If the file is opened, hackers will gain access to the victim's system.
Microsoft declined to disclose details of the security holes fixed in this round. The most dangerous vulnerability blocked in this batch is a vulnerability that allows hackers to remotely install illegal software on the user's system.
The July security update also includes a patch for the latest version of Windows Vista operating system. However, this Vista error is only classified as 'important' - the second in the scale of assessing the vulnerability of Microsoft security bugs.
Users are advised to quickly download and install patches as soon as they are officially released.
