Microsoft troubleshooting Hotmail -
Malfunction caused many Windows Live Hotmail users unable to use this free email service, which was completely overcome by Microsoft over the weekend.
Responding to PC World via email, a Microsoft spokesman said it began to cease operation between 6:30 am and the end of the morning. The service stops working during the maintenance period, not because of technical problems. There is no loss in terms of data.
A Microsoft spokesman said only a very small number of Windows Live Hotmail users were affected but declined to give the exact number.
However, on some forums and blogs, users say they still cannot access their account even if Microsoft has declared the problem resolved.
Earlier this month, some of Yahoo's services and websites had similar problems. The problem is overcome after 90 minutes.
