Imagine a microwave-like machine that can wash and dry your stinking shoes in just 10 minutes, because a very recent day, you can absolutely buy one.
Cheslyn Swart, a South African, invented an ultrafast washing machine to serve "unsaved" sports shoes after losing her job.
Without a formal degree, the 24-year-old is self-paced at home. Now, his invention will be available in South Africa in March, and sold in countries since June.
The "Nu-Sportshoe" washing machine is a little bigger than a microwave and has enough room to put on a pair of sports shoes. It cleans shoes with steam and a special solvent, also invented by Swart.
" The washing machine does not need water. It sprays the solvent at a very high and very hot speed into the shoes, removes all dirt. After 10 minutes, the shoe will be clean and dry, " Enver Buys, who helped Swart register patent, said.
With the traditional washing style, it takes you an hour to scrub the shoes, then another 10 minutes to remove the soap, and finally a day to bring it to the sun. If it rains, you must put your shoes in the house and put it in front of the fireplace.
The design of Nu-Sportshoe is not easy. Buys said Swart's first prototype was "a terrible thing".
" Literally speaking, we have to use a crane to lift it. It's all iron. 10 people can't lift it because it's too heavy ." But with the help of many people, the device was scaled to just twice the size of a microwave oven.
The Danish government has conducted research on the potential market of this product in Europe, the Americas and Asia. As a result, about 3 million people will consume the product only in the first year.
