Music community We7
Rock star Peter Gabriel, who is familiar with the Internet world, has made an ambitious new project. Gabriel's new download service called We7, www.we7.com is a convergence of all the elements: free and legal music downloads without being restricted by copy copyright, web 2.0 technology, factor community.
Users can download the songs already listed on this website, but before downloading and listening to music we have to watch a short ad within 10 seconds. A software will be based on the information in the user's profile that determines which ad is shown.
After the advertisements are screened (4 to 5 times), based on the information of the subscriber, each person will receive a sample of each ad product and they are completely free. The data here is taken to MP3 format. However, until now, the decision to encode music by bitrace compression has not been completely free.
Artist Peter Garbiel and colleagues Steve Purdham and John Taysom expect a quick return from selling short flash commercials. Manufacturers will have to pay to advertise their products here
There is still a lack of music portals with attractive offers. Large record labels are still not ready for this risky new form. As a pioneer in the field of free, legal music downloads, We7 will in the future open more similar services for videos.
