NASA says it works to replace the damaged pump parts, and needs two astronauts to make three walks to complete.
According to Space.com, half of the ISS cooling systems automatically stopped working last week after sensors detected abnormal temperature conditions.
Test results show that the pump connected to one of the two cooling systems outside the ISS has encountered a problem, affecting the operation of peripheral devices and inside the station.
Expected, the first walk will be deployed on December 21, and needs to be completed before the supply ship arrives in January.
