Robots make friends with humans during the campaign to conquer Mars

The "robot will replace people" nightmare is becoming more and more evident in many specific jobs, even mindless machines can steal the dream jobs of many people: become an astronaut. Indeed, NASA has just announced a program to build a humanoid robot - also known as humanoid - to serve the future of Mars exploration.

This is the result of an investigation, seeking development partners from June 2015 of this agency. After more than 5 months of implementation, NASA decided to select two research and development teams of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Northeastern University with the R5 Valkyrie humanoid model . In addition, each research team will receive an annual support of $ 250,000.

With a height of 1.9m and a weight of 125kg, the R5 Valkyrie is expected to become a "well-intentioned colleague" of human astronauts who will land on Mars in the future. With a special elastic module system, the R5 Valkyrie is expected to be able to perform all reflexes in a snap like a human. Although this is only a theory on Earth, doing this on Mars is a completely different story.

Steve Jurczyk, director of NASA's research program for space exploration, said: "The development of robot technology plays an important role in supporting the exploration of the universe. In particular, in planets with super-harsh environments, releasing a group of robots to study would be more plausible than sending an entire crew of pilgrims down with many risks. unpredictable".
