Neandertal people have dark hair

Neandertal people may have the appearance of modern humans, especially Europeans. DNA analyzes show that some Neandertal people have dark hair and pale skin.

The above analysis was done in fossils discovered in Spain and Italy. These breeds carry the mutation of the MC1R gene that codes for melanin-producing proteins, pigmentation pigments and UV-protecting skin.

The mutation of the MC1R gene is also associated with hair color and light skin and is different from mutations in modern humans. However, laboratory tests give similar results.

According to Dr. Michael Hofreiter of the Max Planck Institute (Germany), although this research cannot be confirmed, scientists have not yet grasped any evidence to clarify the appearance of Neandertal people. So far they have not found any preserved skin or hair.

The researchers claim that people with dark hair are only a minority, accounting for 1% of the Neandertal population and are present in all parts of Europe and Asia.
