Negotiations on iPhone between Apple and China Mobile were canceled

The negotiation between Apple and China Mobile on the launch of the iPhone in China was canceled without any specific reason being given.

Chinese portal Sina.com quotes an unnamed official at China Mobile's Data Services division on January 14, saying Apple and China Mobile have reached an agreement on share rates. The official said China Mobile did not accept a 20:30 split rate based on China Mobile's user fees for potential iPhone customers.

Some analysts argue that if China Mobile does not cooperate with Apple, the rival of China Unicom will immediately take over. China Unicom may offer a more attractive division for Apple. China Unicom spokesman declined to comment on the conjecture.

Apple has announced the iPhone in the US since 2007, and said it will launch this product in the Asian market this year.
