In the summer of 2014, implementing the Project of "Preserving and promoting the value of Bach Dang victory relic area" of Quang Ninh province, the archaeological team of Vietnam Institute of Archeology conducted some excavations in Bach Dang battlefield scope belongs to Yen Giang ward, Quang Yen town. Among the artifacts, there was a tubular bone 5cm long, the widest point of 2.2cm had a hash mark at one end and tugged at the other end. Bach Dang museum staff sent to the human and animal bone laboratory of Pham Huy Thong museum located in Quang Yen. Dr. Nguyen Viet, Southeast Asia Prehistoric Center said, this is not the first time to discover human bones in Bach Dang 1288 battlefield in Yen Giang, but this is the 6th human bone remnant. Other studies have been reported, radioactive carbon dating, showing that the ability of bone discovered in Bai Dang Yen Giang area is more or less related to the battle of 1288.

The excavation was carried out in collaboration with the Management Board of Cultural Works in Quang Ninh Province and Quang Yen Town Cultural Office. Through a survey of 25 excavations within the Yen Giang field, the archaeological team has found quite clear cultural vestiges, mainly chinaware, porcelain, ceramic glaze, tile fragments . Especially, archaeological delegation A wooden pile with a diameter of 27-28cm has been discovered, the remaining height is 1.2m, a round cylindrical body is formed, a part is still smooth, the foot of the pile is beveled with many small pieces and slightly slanted to the west and southwest, the top of the pile is slightly inclined to the east. Wood piles are packed into a pinkish brown alluvial layer. It is noteworthy that to the east of the pile comes a board that is not intact. The rare presence of a wooden stake in the pit near Yen Giang pile yard has once again demonstrated the previous conclusions about the size of the pile and how the piles of Tran army and people.
