Thousands of relics were discovered at Ho Citadel

According to the excavation results, the new brick foundation at the relic of Go Nguc is 150m far from the Citadel to the South - the Ho Chi Minh Citadel Heritage Site has been discovered.

The excavation, this study was conducted by the Center for Heritage Preservation into Nha Ho and Thanh Hoa in collaboration with the Vietnam Institute of Archeology. Archaeologists have discovered that Go Nguc, also known as Corner Nguc, has a width of 1,288m 2 , belonging to Xuan Giai village, Vinh Tien commune, Vinh Loc district, 150m from the Citadel to the South-West.

During this excavation, the foundation of tiled terraces, stone drains and thousands of relics such as beveled roof tiles, cover bricks, ceramic glazes and frockware were revealed.

According to the initial assessment of archaeologists, Go Nguc has a continuous development process in two stages. During the period of Tran - Ho period, in the 14th - 15th century, Go Nguc could be a prison area of ​​the court and could be a garrison or a barracks to protect the outer circle of the citadel in the second period in the Le So period, in the 15th - 16th centuries.

This discovery was assessed by UNESCO experts as very important, contributing to affirming the center of the city of Tay Do with continuous development, cultural continuity through different periods of history and dynasties, not only exist and develop in the period of Tran - Ho.

Ho's citadel is located in Vinh Tien and Vinh Long communes, Vinh Loc district, Thanh Hoa province. This heritage is also known by names such as Thanh Tay Do, Thanh Tay Giai, Thanh An Ton, Thanh Tay Kinh. Ho Quy Ly built it in the late 14th and early 15th centuries.
