New method of destroying colorectal cancer cells

Use underground bacteria to kill colon tumor cells
This is an important finding that opens a new way to treat this common cancer, which is difficult to treat after metastasis, and brings hope as millions of people affected by bowel cancer every year.
According to a reporter in Singapore, the team led by Professor Teoh Swee Hin used sporogenes of Clostridium (C. sporogenes) , bacteria in its dead form and fluids, to destroy colon tumor cells. .

The team conducted experiments for 72 hours, in an artificial environment like the human body. The results showed that the dead bacteria could reduce colon cancer cell growth by 74%.
Besides, the scientists also tested the fluid taken from living bacteria and these substances reduced the growth of colon tumor cells by 83%.
According to NTU scientists, traditional cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy do not work well in the colon due to reduced blood flow and lack of oxygen as well as nutrient flow. Because these therapies use oxygen molecules to destroy the genetic material (DNA) of cancer cells and based on blood flow to transport drugs to the tumor.
Meanwhile, new therapies are superior because they do not need oxygen to function because the natural toxicity of dead C. sporogenes continues to kill cancer cells.
