New method: Remove memories by light

The researchers were able to erase the memory in mice with a beam of light in an attempt to discover how memory was recorded and thereby find ways to control them.

It sounds like the scene in the hit series Men in Black , when Agent K and Agent J use the device to erase the memory of those who are reluctant to witness the existence of aliens.

In real life, experts at the University of California at Davis (USA) have just tested the memory erasing method as in the film, but applied in mice.

This technique, called genetic ray , was initiated by Stanford University Professor Karl Diesseroth, a new way to manipulate and study neurons by light.

According to the University of California website, Kazumasa Tanaka, Brian Wiltgen and colleagues used light to ' emulate ' specific memories in mice, and demonstrated the basic hypothesis on how different brain regions , including the brain and the seahorse lobe, working together to recall each piece of memory.

This is also the first time that science has collected direct evidence that the memory summoning activity is the result of both the brain and the seahorse lobe.

At the same time, they also witnessed how specific cells inside the cortex are connected to the amygdala, an emotion-related structure.
