New vulnerability in Skype threatens users
Skype Technologies has just upgraded its own branded Internet calling software to overcome a serious security error.
According to the software developer, this security error can 'open' sensitive information on the system that makes a mistake for malicious attackers.
Hackers can exploit this security flaw by creating a hyperlinked link sent via Skype. When the user clicks on this link, a file on the victim's system will be sent to a computer with another Skype installation.
Security firm Secunia only classified this security error on an average level. According to the security company, hackers can take advantage of this security flaw to overcome some security restrictions on the victim's system and steal sensitive information.
On Wednesday last week, Skype officially released version 2.5.0.82 with integrated security patches.
