New WiFi technology is 3 times faster than today

Qualcomm has confirmed that it will launch a new technology that will triple WiFi connection speeds in locations such as home, office and public places.

At the present time, usually WiFi networks only meet the demand for one device, so when multiple devices are connected, WiFi network will have to work much, leading to slow speed. Qualcomm said: "When using WiFi, there are many connected devices, the transmission of webcam video or chat is like driving at rush hour: Finally you go home, but it will take a lot of time."

After seven years of research, Qualcomm has created a technology that allows WiFi networks to transfer data to multiple connected devices, and to have appropriate adjustment algorithms in use situations. This technology is called MU - MIMO , short for multi user, multiple input, multiple output (ie multi-user, multiple inputs, multiple outputs).

Qualcomm plans to sell MU - MIMO technology to companies that manufacture WiFi chips, wireless routers, smartphones, tablets and many other consumer electronics products. Todd Antes, vice president of product management at Qualcomm, said that when devices and WiFi networks use MU - MIMO technology, the connection speed will increase from two to three times. If there is only one WiFi network using MU technology - MIMO, normal devices when connected will not improve speed, but there are still many other benefits.

Qualcomm compares: "Using MU - MIMO is like a highway for many vehicles: Users will drive faster instead of having congestion like other routes".

Qualcomm plans to introduce the technology within the next few months, before starting to transfer to manufacturing companies early next year.
