Nigeria has escaped the Ebola epidemic
Nigeria has just announced that the country officially escaped Ebola after 6 weeks without new cases, the World Health Organization (WHO) said.
Africa's most populous country received acclaim for its rapid response to disease, after a Liberian brought germs here in July. Earlier, WHO also announced Senegal had escaped Ebola outbreak on Friday. last week.

WHO can declare the Ebola outbreak if over a 21-day period without discovering a new case. The most recent case in Nigeria was recorded on September 5. It has been suggested that besides the Nigerian government responding quickly and aggressively on a large scale, early zoning of people who may be exposed to the first patient has not spread the disease.
However, experts warned that the epidemic could still return to this country.
The deadly disease that started in early March claimed more than 4,500 lives in West Africa, mainly in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. An estimated 70% of those infected in these countries are dead.
Meanwhile, EU foreign ministers are meeting in Luxembourg to discuss strengthening the response to Ebola's potential threat.
