No2 Internet stands for science and technology news
The Internet is second only to every television about scientific and technological information. However, most users do not trust what they read blindly online.
The latest report from Pew Internet & American Life said 20% of the US population regularly updates science and technology news from the Internet compared to 41% of those who choose television. Newspapers and magazines share 3rd place with 14% while broadcasting the most modest, only 4%.
Knowledge of humanity is always something people want to explore and explore - Source: Businessweek The gap between television and Internet is even erased in areas where people have high-speed Internet connections at home. 34% said they considered the network as the main information channel, while this rate for you watching television is only 33%.
However, up to 80% of people reading science and technology news on the internet said they regularly check the accuracy of information at some other sources, maybe online, can be offline. And the vast majority chose to read from two or more bulletins to compare and compare.
Another proof that Internet users today do not blindly believe in what they receive: Only 13% acknowledge that they choose the Internet because of their accuracy, and the majority go online because it is convenient.
Another point that Pew's report found is that compared to conventional news, online science and technology news is the most popular for Americans. The proof is that the Internet only succumbs to every television in the field of scientific news, but is behind both local and national television, local radio and print for general news.
" Scientific information on the Internet is very rich, " said John Horrigan, Pew deputy director. Initially, the Internet was a tool for scientists and engineers to share information with each other and this historical tradition is still maintained today.
