Nuclear city secrets are not on the map in Russia

As a place to store nuclear materials, the city of Ozersk is a top secret location in Russia, not even named on the map.

According to Australian News.com.au, Ozersk looks like a lovely city to visit. It has all the charm of a European city: beautiful parks, large squares, blue lakes and thousands of people living in peace.

However, the city is radioactive and surrounded by many guards and a barbed wire fence. For decades, the city of Ozersk wasn't even named on the map.

In 1947, the Soviet Union decided to build a secret city, where they could develop nuclear weapons in the early stages of the Cold War.

At that time, the place was named City 40 and was where the first Soviet nuclear bomb was born. Thousands of people were transferred here, including scientists and technicians working at the Mayak nuclear plant.

They were paid more than any Russian at the time: high salaries, housing, excellent education and security. But everything has its price. They gave up freedom and connection to the outside world when they arrived in City 40.

Currently, there have been more than 3 generations living in this city but things have not changed much.The city is still home to the majority of Russian nuclear material , and is still very secretive.
