Atomex Asia Forum 2014 opened in Ho Chi Minh City on November 19 in an intensive talk about Russian and Vietnamese relations in the field of nuclear energy.

Atomex Asia 2014 is the Asian Regional Nuclear Suppliers Forum organized by the Russian National Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom.

In the first day of the forum, experts discussed the development prospects of Southeast Asia's nuclear energy, technology and safety of Russian nuclear reactors, requirements for contractors. and the ability to localize, build nuclear infrastructure, train staff, build public awareness.

Mr. Nguyen Cuong Lam - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN - nuclear power project investor) said that within the framework of comprehensive strategic cooperation between Vietnam and Russia, the Government decided to choose choose Russia as the cooperation partner to build the first nuclear power plant in Vietnam in Ninh Thuan.

Nuclear power development in Vietnam is a long-term national strategy to meet electricity demand, reduce energy import dependence, reduce environmental pollution from fossil fuels, promote scientific development. technology and infrastructure .

Mr. Nikolay Drozdov - Director of International Business, Russian National Atomic Energy Group Rosatom - said the localization rate in nuclear power plant production is about 30-40%, with the principle of unlimited Enterprises in the host country participate.

However, there are some devices that Rosatom will provide that play a particularly important role, accounting for about 25% of the project.

According to Nikolay Drozdov, the Rosatom side handed over the feasible document of the Ninh Thuan 1 nuclear power plant project to the investor, which is being studied by EVN, then submitted to the state appraisal council. After being appraised and approved, Rosatom will put it into design and implementation.

At present, about 340 Vietnamese students are studying nuclear energy in Russia under the scholarship of the Russian Government, and the future will increase to 1,000 students.

In addition to providing scholarships each year to 70 Vietnamese students studying in Russia, in Vietnam, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam is upgrading and building this discipline for seven domestic universities.

According to the experience of implementing projects in many countries, every person working in a nuclear power plant will create jobs for five other people in related jobs.
