Microsoft has just confirmed that Windows Live oneCare can sometimes not save any trace of emails in Outlook and Outlook Express. Expected bug fix updates will be released in the coming week.

Feedback from some Microsoft users said that OneCare tends to "swallow" data files of Outlook and Outlook Express after a period of malicious code scans.

" We are looking for a solution to this problem ," a Microsoft spokesman said. " It is expected that the fully updated version of oneCare will be released on March 13 ".

While waiting for the Microsoft bug fix update to suggest that users can recover files that have been quarantined by OneCare, they can find lost emails. At the same time, users should also add Outlook data files and Outlook Express (.pst and .dbx files) to the list of files that are not scanned for OneCare's malicious code.

The above problem mainly affects Outlook 97, Outlook 2000, and Outlook Express running on Windows XP platform.
