Oracle released the free version
Over the weekend, Oracle offered a free version of its famous Oracle 10g database application - also known as the 'freebie' version - through Oracle Technical Network (OTN).
Oracle Database 10g Express Edition , also called XE version, is primarily targeted at Oracle database application enthusiasts, as well as those who want to try its technology, Andy Mendelsohn, vice president High-level in charge of Oracle's server data technology.
Although Oracle XE version is a reduced version - about 150MB - but is equally compatible with the full version and also has the necessary APIs.
However, the free version of Oracle can only run on single-processor computers, 1GB of RAM and is capable of handling up to 4GB of user information.
Oracle XE now has a version for good compatibility with Linux and Windows. Users can download this version here.
