Over 150 million domain names are registered
The latest statistics from the domain name registration service providers show that since officially opening to all customers, there have been over 150 million '.asia' domain names registered so far.
Xavier Buck - CEO of EuroDNS - said the reason for the strong growth is that the '.asia' domain name was registered on the principle that 'whoever registered first is granted'. Specifically, if more than one person registers a domain name, the earliest applicants will be granted that domain name.
' This time we do not hold auctions for .asia domain names. We have access to all the applications and approvals in principle, and those who pre-register are granted, 'Buck said.
' Worldwide, there are more than 150 million .asia domain names registered. In particular, China registered up to 10 million domain names. This fact shows that the .asia domain name is becoming more and more widely used . '
Mr. Edmon Chung, DotAsia CEO, said there are still tens of millions of '.asia' domains waiting to be registered. The principle of registration will continue to be maintained as above.
