Conical sea snail is one of the most terrifying poisonous creatures of the ocean. They often inject enough toxins to paralyze the body, even killing the prey. Many medical experts believe that they are responsible for about 30% of human deaths.

Now, scientists have successfully isolated several compounds in the poison of conical sea snail. These compounds, called ACV1 - offer promise that new painkillers will be developed. Not the hope, researchers at the University of Melbourne have teamed up with a pharmaceutical company, which uses ACV1 in developing medications to treat neuropathic pain associated with diseases like diabetes and zona.

Professor Bruce Livett said there are many other potential benefits, including treating epilepsy and Alzheimer's. He said: ' This is a natural medicine that helps us overcome dependence and unexpected side effects like conventional painkillers '.
