From the 1st century BC to the 1st century BC, Petra was a prosperous time and was the first time to build the first buildings. Having been annexed to the Roman Empire in 106 AD, Petra also experienced a period of splendor until the development of other trading routes struck a critical blow to its economy. At present, atmospheric conditions and erosion are damaging this site. Experts have come to research on the causes of degenerated ice making and a photographic survey has been conducted. The World Heritage Protection Committee recently funded the Jordanian government to preserve Petra and restore the Palace of the Palace. Petra was listed in the World Heritage List in 1985.
