Photo of a beautiful transparent frog
Admire the unique beauty of deformed frogs through art sets.
Combining the passion for both fields of science and art, New York-based Brandon Ballengée has created unique photographs of deformed frogs.
The origin of this image begins with a Brandon study of the decline in the number of frogs caused by deformities. He put colorants on the specimen, then used a high-resolution scanner to create photos of the distorted frogs.
Brandon's aim is to direct the viewers' attention to the inner beauty of this creature, rather than focusing on the deformed body part. So in the photos, the frogs appear to be about the size of a toddler toddler. This helps evoke close feelings, sympathy from viewers.
Artist Brandon Ballengée named the set 'Reliquaries' to show respect for the short life of these pitiful amphibians.
