However, many areas in Ankarafa forest have not been surveyed before. In this forest, Dr. Goncalo Rosa and colleagues discovered a new species of tree frog named Boophis ankarafensis .
Appearance of Boophis ankarafensis is quite beautiful with green and bright red spots on the head and back. Adult males are 23-24cm long, larger females with sizes of 28-29cm.
Sci-News magazine said scientists discovered 56 frogs Boophis ankarafensis on either side of the stream in Ankarafa forest, of which 48 male frogs and 8 female frogs.
Male frogs live on branches at a height of 0.5-2m, often clustering on different canopies of the same tree.
