Asia's largest tree frog hides in the forest of Vietnam
Spotted green frogs, identified by the scientific community as one of Asia's largest tree frogs, are hiding in Vietnam's primeval forests before over-hunting.
Polypedates dennysii belongs to the family of Rhizophoridae (Rhacophoridae), the No-tail (Anura). Like other amphibians, males are smaller than females with body lengths reaching 128mm, while females can reach 134mm.
The name is Spotted Green Frog because their bodies are dark green, turquoise or blue. Many are only green, while many have white or rust-colored spots on their backs or sides. Underneath the abdomen and limbs are pale white.
However, the body color will turn dark blue when they are threatened.
For older children, the original green color on the head and back is also turned yellow.
Green-spotted frogs often live on trees, forest floors, along rocky streams and wet areas, bogs, lakes, especially around waterfalls in areas with evergreen forest on mountains, altitudes of about 250 -600m. Scientists note that this species is found in the primary forest areas in the provinces of Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Vinh Phuc, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Ninh Binh, and Quang Binh.
Their breeding season starts at the end of March when small rains start and end in July every year. Before the mating couple, they often called out to each other quite 'tlý tluýt' for about 2-3 seconds.

In order to make sure eggs after fertilization fall down to where there is water, the female climbs up to the branches above where there is water to spawn. However, if there are other males around, they also participate in this process.

Frog eggs will hatch into tadpoles and fall into the water. The entire development of tadpoles will take place in the water. At first, tadpoles had no limbs, breathing with gills and eating moss. It will then form the four limbs, the tail will gradually fade and go up to live. Light green frogs hide under the light brown skin. When they have a body length of about 35mm, bright spots or rust color appear. On the picture is a tadpole in the phase of ending its tail.
Spotted green frog is a quite gentle species. Like other wildlife, mottled green frogs have a very important role in the ecosystem. In addition, this tree frog also contributes to control of harmful insects. However, they are threatened by loss of habitat or being hunted excessively for the needs of food or brought back as pets.
