Assoc. Tran Dang, director of the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene, said: 70% of food poisoning cases are related to dirty hands. If not kept clean, hands are a place to transport bacteria, toxic chemicals from the environment and other contaminants due to normal contact.

In recent years, there have been 4 cases of thick cake poisoning (600 people) caused by dirty hands. A row of vermicelli and algae is sold in front of the primary school twice, causing poisoning, which is caused by dirty hands of sellers.

A food processing facility that provides rations for leather shoe and garment export factories in the South has worked as a worker for both poisoning facilities. Through investigations and tests, authorities discovered that the meat slicer of this establishment was ripe (a symptom of inflammation of the fingertips and legs). Because of not keeping hygiene, the wound causes dirty food and poisoning for people to eat.

Rapid tests with hand samples also show that the majority of food service people do not have the habit of washing their hands after going to the toilet. Routine behaviors such as scratching, contacting the head, nose and other parts of the body can be contaminated and infect the source.

Medical staff must also learn . wash hands

Not only with salespeople and food processors, keeping a clean hand is especially important to health workers. According to experts in this field, washing your hands should also be handled properly.

Surgical doctors who perform surgery to treat patients must wash their hands according to very strict procedures before surgery: dot the tincture of iodine on the shortened nail tips, clean hands with a brush and close solution coincide; After a few minutes, rub your hands with another clean brush, then immerse your hands in alcohol before you can operate.

The director of a hospital said: "If you do not wash your hands, it may increase the risk of wound infection."

In fact, the results of the hand washing test at the hospital showed that 10% of the hands after washing still have bacteria. It cannot be said that sterilized gloves can be absolutely guaranteed because gloves can tear during surgery.

Clean hand washing is also a measure to prevent infection of patients and medical staff. But also according to the Department of Treatment, the hospital infection prevention is still inadequate: most of the nurses who have not been trained in hospital hygiene should implement hygiene procedures in contravention of regulations.

Dry sweeping, using a load to wipe out many sick rooms, wipes that are not cleaned after cleaning are very common. Improper hygiene practices are conditions for spreading microorganisms in hospitals and increasing the risk of infection.
