Prepare to build a center for nuclear science and technology

The Center for Nuclear Science and Technology is being proposed to be established, will serve Ninh Thuan nuclear power project and train people for Vietnam's nuclear power industry later.

The center will also participate in training and developing human resources for the field of atomic energy. This is a major research center in Vietnam's atomic energy industry in the future.

Mr. Tan said that the Atomic Energy Institute proposed the Ministry of Science and Technology to comment on the construction of this center. The center will be built by Russia to serve Ninh Thuan nuclear power project as well as for long-term development.

According to the roadmap, in September 2011, the intergovernmental agreement on construction of the center will be signed. Research, site approval and project preparation and approval will take place within one year. The center will start construction in June 2013 to October 2018 and come into operation.

In terms of human resources, the center will need 350 people, possibly from the Institute of Atomic Energy, and young officials and graduates of nuclear energy can also work here. Officials will be trained in Russia starting from the end of this year.

On the basis of preliminary research, Mr. Tan said, Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission plans to build a center in one of the three provinces of Hoa Binh, Da Lat and Dong Nai.
