Concerned about the waste situation in his hometown, Nguyen Phi Truong, Nguyen Phi Vuong and Huu Thi Duong (Duong Lieu, Hoai Duc, Hanoi) jointly researched the topic of producing and trading bio-organic coal for sale from waste from craft villages.

The author said, Duong Lieu is a village every year discharging directly to the environment about 400,000-500,000 tons of solid waste. This causes serious environmental pollution, while fuel and energy demand for community life is growing and expensive.

Truong shared: "For more than 10 years with my parents, you have made organic fertilizer from the waste source, I came up with the idea of ​​creating fuel from organic waste sources, reducing pollution for the environment again. generate income for me and other workers ".

The objective of the project is to produce and trade bio-organic coal from Duong Lieu village waste with a volume of one ton per day, raising people's awareness of the new use of renewable energy. .

The production process will produce honeycomb coal and pellets of 60%, which are the organic waste of the trade village, and the remaining 40% is usually coal dust. With this method, the price is only 65-75% compared to conventional coal circulating in the market. In addition, the project also creates jobs for 22 workers, including those working at production workshops, suppliers of raw materials and sellers for agents .

In the long term, the project will create STC 999 bio-organic coal with an estimated one ton a day in the first year (2011-2012), enriching and more specialized than supplying fuel to the market. .

Author Dang Van Cong at the Center for Scientific Research and Technology Transfer, Northwest University (Thuan Chau, Son La) proposed the topic of producing briquettes and fuel coal from corn cobs. He said that the number of corn cobs discharged into the environment after the harvest is very large, this is a source of materials that can be used to produce charcoal as a fuel to replace coal for agricultural products and kilns. handicraft, used in daily cooking of people.

Mr. Cong proposed two production directions. Firstly, the corn cobs, after being collected from milling mills, will be crushed and mixed with some additives to make coal briquettes. The second way is to crush the corn cobs into a press machine to form corn cob sticks (similar to rice husk firewood).

The author said that this is the solution to create a new source of fuel with high heat to replace coal, while solving the amount of corn waste. These products are sold to agricultural kilns, handicraft production furnaces, and people at reasonable prices.

16 projects selected for the final round of the 2010 Green Idea Contest are all unique. All will be exhibited and introduced at the ' Green Ideas Festival' , held at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (799 Nguyen Van Linh, District 7, HCMC) on March 19.

Each project will be supported with 2 million VND to decorate a 4 m2 wide booth. The jury will come to each booth to hear the authors present their ideas directly, then evaluate and select 3 best and most feasible ideas. These 3 ideas will be supported by Toyota Vietnam Automobile Company with VND 750 million (VND 250 million each for each project).
