Use leaves for scrub to clean medical waste

Researchers at Sultan Qaboos University (Kingdom of Oman) proposed the production of dates (the palm tree species) not to throw away leaves but to treat wastewater, especially the waste water of the health facilities. According to them, the leaves of this plant can absorb any toxic chemicals in wastewater.

Under the plan, in early 2013 the Kingdom of Oman will implement a project on water treatment methods discharged by hospitals. Scientists have tried to find new technologies and methods to turn wastewater into drinkable water.

Normally in sewage filters people use activated carbon. The Omani research group, led by Professor Saeed al-Shafei, says that the coal made by dehydration of dates with sulfuric acid at a temperature of 170 degrees C is far more effective than any activated carbon. common sense. Moreover, the production of 'charcoal from dates' is cheaper and more environmentally friendly than the products sold on the market a few times.

As noted by professor al-Shafei, coal made from date palm not only completely eliminates the residues of pigments and pharmaceuticals in the form of traces, but also removes toxic heavy metals.

It should be noted that Professor al-Shafei for 12 years has continuously gone into the study of 'green' absorbers (ie products from non-toxic natural substances) and he himself has ever developed There are waste materials from many crops such as olive seeds and rice husk husks that can be used to clean various types of pollutants.

Among these raw materials, date palm leaves are the best and are being wasted because they do not know how to use them while Middle Eastern countries are developing strong production of dates that are very popular in the world.
