According to Thanh Hoa Hydrometeorology Center, the rain is concentrated in coastal plain districts such as Tinh Gia, Quang Xuong, Hoang Hoa and Hau Loc . Among them, the biggest rainfall is in Tinh Gia district 40mm, Thanh Hoa city 42mm, the remaining districts are nearly 30mm.

Small but prolonged rainfall has contributed to improving the water source for farmers in coastal plain districts when preparing to cultivate the Champa crop. Particularly in the mountainous districts without rain, the water in the dams has not been improved.

As expected, due to the influence of cold air overflowing to the North, Thanh Hoa continues to have rain until tomorrow. The "unseasonal" rains help farmers to cultivate the right schedule of seasonal crops.

Previously, Thanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that due to the influence of the weather, the province had over 29,000 ha of Champa land for cultivation, which lacked water and could suffer from severe drought.

The reason is that the 2010 rainy season ends soon, there is no rain on a large scale. Some mountainous districts have only 80-90% of rainfall compared to the average rainfall of many years. The water level on the big rivers tends to decrease gradually. Water in lakes is also lower than the design water level from 1m to 2m.

Thanh Hoa province is concentrating on all urgent measures such as dredging canals, strict and economical management, preventing water resource losses in lakes and dams; timely checking, maintaining and maintaining irrigation works to ensure good operation . to cope with drought and protect production of Champa crop.
