Thanh Hoa protection forest burns big

Hundreds of people were mobilized to control fires in protection forests in Hau Loc and Hoang Hoa districts (Thanh Hoa). In hot weather, water resources are scarce, making rescue work difficult.

Thanh Hoa protective forest fire

Local people said that around 9.30 am on May 27, smoke rose from the protection forest on the slopes of Son Trang mountain, belonging to Luong Xa village, Trieu Loc commune, Hau Loc district. Only a few minutes later, the column of smoke quickly rises with big bangs. Due to the dry weather, prolonged heat, the fire spread quickly, burning many pine forests and eucalyptus trees.

Fire area is about 2 km away from Ba Trieu temple. The fire continued to spread under hot weather near 40 degrees Celsius, causing thousands of households to live around the area worried. Near noon, the fire continued to spread to the forests of Hoang Hoa district.

Receiving information, forest rangers in Thanh Hoa province cooperated with FPF forces, militia and self-defense forces . quickly approaching the scene, trying to control the fire. Hundreds of police, military and local soldiers were also mobilized to the scene to join the fire.

Mr. Trinh Van Tung, forest ranger said that the dangerous terrain caused many difficulties for fire fighting. Fire engines cannot access the fire center, so the functional force must deliver fire protection to control the fire from afar. Besides, severe sunny weather, thick vegetation, no water source also hindered rescue forces.

At 15:00 on the same day, the fire was not controlled. Initially, the fire destroyed more than 10 hectares of pine and eucalyptus forests.

The cause of forest fire is being investigated.
