Rare cases: People born without cerebellum

A 24-year-old girl living in Shandong Province, China has surprised scientists by the lack of cerebellum. And even though there was no cerebellum, the girl still lived well, even she married and gave birth like a normal person.

The incident was only discovered when the young girl visited PLA General Hospital (China) due to dizziness. After seeing X-rays, doctors said the girl's brain lacks a very important component involved in controlling behavior, the cerebellum .

The cerebellum is a part located behind the skull. Although called "cerebellum" , it actually contains up to 50% of the brain's neurons.

Doctors are also surprised that the defective cerebellum contains cerebrospinal fluid. This can make young girls live hard to the end of their lives. In fact, this is also the reason why girls 6 years old can speak, and 7 years old can walk on their own. In addition, she often has difficulty maintaining balance and this has affected most activities in her daily life.

Other test results also show that girls can hear but have difficulties in pronunciation. Her voice was deep and hard to hear. Fortunately, however, she still has a family with her husband and a daughter.

According to researchers, only 9 cases of cerebellum in the world have been reported so far. Most cases of patients die early. That's why the girl in Shandong Province (China) can still live normally, making the science community not be surprised.
