Lead researcher Michael D. Seidman of the Department of Head, Neck and Head Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit (USA) said the study showed that healthy mice suffered less from long-term effects of sex. Noise-induced hearing loss when resveratrol is given before exposure to noise for a long time.
'Our latest study focuses on resveratrol and its effects on biological inflammation, the body's response to injury and the agent believed to be the cause of many health problems including evidence. Alzheimer's, cancer, aging and hearing loss , 'said Seidman.
'Resveratrol is a very powerful chemical that seems to protect the body from inflammation because it is related to aging, cognition and hearing loss , ' he stressed.
The latest study was designed to determine the potential defense mechanism of resveratrol after exposure to noise by calculating its effect on cyclooxygenase-2 , also known as COX-2 .
The study found that resveratrol significantly reduced the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), hindering COX-2 expression and reducing hearing loss after exposure to noise in mice.
'We have shown that by giving resveratrol to animals, we can reduce the level of hearing and cognitive decline , ' Seidman said.
The results of the study were published on Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
