Restore Message Archive in Yahoo Messenger

While using Yahoo Messenger, you accidentally delete the chat content in Message Archive. No worries, you can still restore those content simply.

Message Archive is stored in the folder .: Program FilesYahoo! MessengerProfilesArchiveMessages in which the folder is named your nickname in yahoo. (For example, if you have a mailbox of 12346@yahoo.com , your nickname is 12346 ).

Inside this directory is a series of subdirectories called nicknames of your contacts in Yahoo. In these folders, only files containing the content of chat chats are classified. These files are encrypted so no one else can read this content except yourself.

So, if you are a computer user, you can restore the deleted archives yourself by using the deleted file recovery program.

We also propose a more specific solution for the above process. The recovery program used is Recover My Files 3.94.

Step 1 : Install Recover My Files, note that installing a different drive from the Yahoo Messenger installation drive avoids the deleted files being overwritten.

Step 2 : Use the Recover My Files program, search for deleted files in. If you have just missed your hand, just use the Fast Files Search mode. You can see details about each mode in the side window. Click Next. Next, double click on the line "Double click here to ADD a FOLDER to the Search .", to add the folder containing the Archive mentioned above the article . Click Next. Select all file types then select Start to start the search. The program will categorize the files found inside

* Note : You should determine the information you need to recover such as missing the Archive, on which day. It may not be necessary, but the more information the recovery process will be faster.

You only need files that have the file name of the format xxxxxxxx-.dat , where, xxxxxxxx is a string of 8 numbers, indicating the year, month and day (eg 20060305 - March 5, 2006), which is the nickname Yahoo yours. These files are usually in Others.

Step 3 : After issuing a recovery (Restore) command, Recover My Files often asks you to save the recovered files to another folder. You should save the files you need to restore to a folder other than the one you have installed Yahoo Messenger, then copy it back to the folder mentioned above ( .: Program FilesYahoo! MessengerProfilesArchiveMessages ). Directory information is always available on the list of files available after each search.

The recovered file is the Archive you need. If the file status when recovering is good (good) or very good (very good), then 100% you restore the Archive intact. If not, you can only recover a part.
