Rich uranium is about to dock in Iran

Russia's rich uranium fuel is ready to be transferred to Iran's first nuclear power plant, Iran's national television on September 16 said the country's foreign minister said.

The announcement comes after talks in Moscow between Minister Manouchehe Mottaki and Russia's leading nuclear official Sergei Kiriyenko. Officials from the two countries met to resolve the delay of completing a US $ 1 billion contract to the Bushehr plant, jointly built by Russia and Iran.

"Nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants, inspections and sealing of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is ready," Iranian television quoted Mottaki as saying late at night. "We see the trend of cooperation between Iran and Russia on the Busher nuclear plant that is moving forward."

According to Moscow, Iraq's first nuclear power plant project has been delayed due to Iran-related problems. However, for its part, Tehran insists that Russia must postpone the project due to Western pressure.

The United States has always insisted that Iran's nuclear power program is only a frontier for weapons planning. Russia continues to oppose the US to intensify sanctions against Iran, but officials are starting to show resentment over Iran's refusal to suspend uranium enrichment. It seems that Moscow is using control of the Bushehr project to force Iran to give in to its nuclear program.

A European diplomat last month said Moscow had warned it would not transfer fuel to the Bushehr plant if Tehran did not remove the secret veil around its nuclear operations. Iran currently has the capacity to enrich small amounts of uranium for nuclear fuel.

Russian officials said that after six months of fuel transfer, the Bushehr nuclear power plant could operate.

If enriched at low levels, uranium could be used as a fuel for the reactor, but if enriched at high levels, it could be the raw material for nuclear warheads.

In a separate report, Iranian television reported that the president had offered to transfer nuclear knowledge to Saudi Arabia.
