Robot World Olympiad 2007

Over the weekend, more than 800 students from 170 teams from all over the world gathered at Taiwan National University to participate in the World Robot Olympiad, an annual robot assembly competition for school youth.

Over the weekend, more than 800 students from 170 teams from all over the world gathered at Taiwan National University to participate in the World Robot Olympiad, an annual robot assembly competition for school youth.

The competition took place on 17 and 18 November, divided into two tables. In Table 1, teams are required to assemble robots that solve a problem within an hour. In Table 2 - an expanded table, teams will present and exhibit their own robot products.

The teams are divided into 3 groups by age group: elementary, middle and high school students. Candidates will assemble robots with LEGO ratings, programmable controllers and optical, thermal and sound sensors with their own capabilities.

At the end of the competition, the Taiwanese students won the championships in all three groups of Table 1. In Table 2, the championship of Hong Kong team (primary group), Philippines (high school) and Malaysia (secondary career).

World Robot Olympiad took place for the first time in 2004, organized by WRO - an organization that gathers experts from many global universities - to promote innovation in education around the world. The competition helps students build and develop ideas based on their rich imagination, a very important step for future development, while helping them to practice teamwork skills.
