The press department of Russia's state-owned nuclear corporation Rosatom issued a statement on April 3 saying that Rosatom scientists have created a plasma accelerator - the ' heart' of the plasma rocket engine prototype. interplanetary missions, which will allow Russia to reach new heights of space exploration.

The release confirms: 'A plasma accelerator with an external magnetic field has been built for a plasma rocket motor prototype possessing higher thrust parameters (at least 6 N) and specific momentum (at least 100km/s). The average power of such a motor operating in conditions of periodic pulse mode can reach 300 kW".

The communiqué assessed the results of creating a plasma rocket engine 'with a capacity of several hundred kW in the future which will allow the Russian Federation to gain technological leadership in this field and reach new heights' in space exploration activities, 'carrying out interplanetary flights as well as regular exchange of goods between Earth and the Moon' .
