Save VNREDSat-1 satellite from collision in the universe

According to the announcement of the Small Satellite Project Management Board, at 19:00 on August 15, VNREDSat-1 satellite conducted an emergency trajectory to avoid the possibility of colliding with a flying object. through the current orbit of the satellite with a velocity of about 14,000m / s more than twice the speed of the level 1 universe.

According to the assessment of the Small Satellite Control and Exploitation Center (DKKTN), this is the most complex operation to control the VNREDSat-1 satellite orbit that the center has conducted so far.

Immediately after receiving notice from the US Center for Space Mission (JSPOC) warns of the possibility of collisions between VNREDSat-1 satellite and a cosmic object at 20h26 (Vietnam time) on the 15th. / 8, with collision probability estimated to be 0.279% (in the world, with collision probabilities above 0.1%, it is necessary to adjust the trajectory), the center analyzed and evaluated the situation. , consult an expert of Astrium (France), Satellite Control Center of GISTDA (Thailand) and decide to conduct an orbit adjustment to ensure the absolute safety of VNREDSat-1 satellite.

The calculation of the trajectory needs to be quickly deployed and implemented accurately to ensure collision avoidance, fuel economy of the satellite and ensure continuity in the implementation of the photography plan. The trajectory control command must be uploaded to the satellite at least 30 minutes before the expected collision time. Meanwhile, the earliest communication session with the satellite of the satellite control transceiver station located in Hoa Lac is at 21:00 on August 15. Therefore, the Center for Flood and Storm Control has set up a connection line with VNREDSat-1 satellite via a signal transceiver station in Kiruna (Sweden).

At 15h39 (Vietnam time) on August 15, 2014, the Center completed sending orbiting adjustment commands to satellites and at 19:00 satellite conducted trajectory adjustments. At 21:00 on August 15, when the satellite had a meeting with Hoa Lac station, the satellite data was downloaded and verified the success of the emergency orbit control, the satellite then remained continue to operate stably, capture and send photos regularly as planned.
