According to Iran's official IRNA news agency, the city of Tehran has announced the decision to close all government agencies and schools in the capital on January 5 due to serious air pollution.

This is the second time within a month that Iran must close its offices and schools in the capital due to air pollution. On December 3, Tehran had to make a similar decision.

Iranian Vice President Mohammad-Javad Mohammadizadeh said the air pollution prevention committee in Tehran made the decision after the thickly covered fog during the past three days did not go away and this situation could be last for at least the next few days.

In the past few days, authorities in Tehran have also taken measures to deal with pollution such as traffic restrictions, warning people not to go out if not really necessary.
