"I looked down at my body and felt separate from it, like I was in the spirit world, but I was still aware of what was happening, my body was losing a lot of blood and was being treated by medical staff. I didn't feel panic, instead I felt very peaceful," Kevin told the Mirror about his near-death experience.

The man suffered from calciphylaxis, a rare condition that causes calcium to build up in small blood vessels, causing necrosis of skin and fatty tissue, leading to severe blood loss.

Some studies on near-death experiences in 2022 show that when people are between life and death, they may have the feeling that they will separate from their bodies .

Those people will no longer feel pain but can still be aware of their surroundings like Kevin's case.

In addition, they also have symptoms such as drowsiness, changes in breathing, skin, feeling the appearance of white light and the senses becoming especially vivid.

According to a study conducted by the European Academy of Neurology in 2019, out of 289 experiments conducted on near-death experiences, 106 were confirmed.

These experiences may sound horrifying, but the moment of life and death has transformed people's positive psychology.

'When I got over the death and out of the hospital, the atmosphere at home changed dramatically. I became more resilient and I knew I could recover,' Kevin shared.

In short, near-death experiences involve a person feeling separate from their body while being fully aware of impending death.

This is followed by a major psychological transformation in their positive direction as they overcome death and return to the real world.

Note that hallucinations and near-death experiences are completely different , but they both involve witnessing events that did not actually happen.
