Model of measuring instruments of height and angle in space thanks to the flat mirror system of Ha Thuc Tien, 11/1 grade high school student of Hue National High School, won the first prize of the Intel ISEF International Science and Technology Competition in 2011 .
This May, Tien will represent Vietnam to bring his topic to participate in Intel 2011 science and technology contest held in the US.
' The height measurement lessons using cupping in geometry I find it difficult to implement and the accuracy is not high. Once coincidentally, my younger brother in grade 7 asked me about the geometric optical physics lesson (flat mirror) that was made by measuring the normal instruments very limited so I studied the existing sensory improvement. ' , Tien talked about his bold idea.

Tien used the principles of light, flat mirror, some mathematical theorems, geometry that he studied from class lessons, advanced books, existing sensory instruments . to do the work. Solid theoretical basis for your topic. Tien has calculated how to measure the height of an object in space in a vertical direction rather than measuring it in the usual way .
In 3 months, along with the help of teachers and friends in class, Tien has completed his project."In order for the model to be really effective, I have tested it several times to determine the error, measuring 75 times of Phu Van Lau flagpole, Dai Noi Hue and giving the result much lower error than the conventional senses '. , Tien said.
Overcoming 33 selected creative topics from 24 secondary and high schools in Thua Thien - Hue province and Quang Tri province, Tien's theme has excellently won the first prize at the Intel ISEF international science and technology contest. 2011
Ms. Le Thi Kim Chi, Tien's homeroom teacher is proud: 'Tien is a good student, good at school, careful, always takes a serious attitude in studying . My scientific topic is very meaningful to teaching and learning work of teachers as well as students' .

In addition to that achievement, Tien also has a respectable 'warehouse' award , such as the first prize in a math tournament on a provincial calculator and a third prize in a national competition; Intel first physics and astronomy prize in Vietnam in January 2011. Tien was honored to receive the Ly Tu Trong award in the past 26/3.
Currently, Tien and his friend Pham Phuoc Long rush to complete the topic to participate in Intel 2011 science and technology contest held in the US. ' I am very confident about my topic and hope it will be applied in practice ', Tien shared.
When asked about the dream, Tien confided: ' I always dream of becoming a scientist, a researcher in physics to be able to access new sciences .'
