Sea-going hybrid airplanes move with air cushion

FlyShip is a type of ocean transport designed by German engineers to provide full functionality of ships, aircraft and air-cushioned vessels.

FlyShip is a vehicle designed to fly over water, at speeds up to 250km / h. It has a wingspan of 40m, space inside can accommodate 100 people.

"Our vessel moves above the air cushion. This cushion is created by the air flowing directly beneath the wings thanks to the propeller, helping the hull to fly , " said Daniel Schindler, FlyShip engineer. , said.

At the take-off speed, the FlyShip switches to water-based surfing like a bird and can bend wings. This move helps keep FlyShip stable on the waves, minimizing the common symptoms at sea such as seasickness.

Another advantage of FlyShip is fuel economy . It uses nearly 270 liters of fuel per hour. Meanwhile, jet fuel consumes 3,300 liters per hour. The cost of producing the next FlyShip (FS-100) is about $ 37 million, well below the $ 72 million average cost of the Airbus A318.

After the test, FlyShip, Germany, announced that they are ready to bring the new product into commercial operation. The FlyShip narrows the gap between shipment (cheap but slow) and travel by air (fast but expensive). FlyShip will become the leading means of high speed shipping in the future. It can also be used for military surveillance or anti-piracy.
