On August 24, Master Le Ai Siem, Director of Tien Giang Museum, said that by carbon radioactive C14 method, the examination of samples of ancient mollusk shells collected in Phuoc Lap commune, Tan Phuoc district ( Tien Giang) is located in the Plain of Reeds, the result of this mollusk shell is about 5,200 years old.

Tien Giang Provincial Museum also found floating sand dunes filled with shells, gravel, pottery . in Tan Hoa Thanh commune, calcium sulfate rocks lurking in farmland in Tan Hoa Dong commune. These are rare phenomena, attracting the attention of scientists.

Particularly in Tan Hoa Thanh commune, Tien Giang Provincial Museum discovered 2 high land mounds, each with a width of about 300m, a length of 1,500m. This bed is about 200m away from the other, at a depth of 0.3-0.4m, below the ground filled with shells, gravel and some ceramic items have been broken.

The artifacts samples collected by Tien Giang Provincial Museum are awaiting inspection results. However, according to master Le Ai Sem, it is possible to assess first and foremost, high mounds and mounds in the Dong Thap Muoi area of Tan Phuoc district may be the vestiges of the ancient Southern coastline 5,200 years ago.

After thousands of years of hard work, the Mekong River system pushed the coast away from the East Sea. The existing coastline (Tien Giang) is not less than 50km from Tan Phuoc district (Tien Giang) along the crowded road and located in Go Cong Dong territory.

Earlier, in the 80s of the 20th century, when constructing canals and sluice gates for irrigation systems in Go Cong Sweetening Project, the locality also discovered elephant bones under the canal.
